Thriving, Valued and Heard.

At When At When Women Gather, our mission is to help women flourish in every aspect of their lives. We are dedicated to making sure that every woman who joins our events feels truly valued, listened to, and leaves with a sense of belonging to our warm, supportive, and growing community.

We are proud of the strong, lasting partnerships we’ve built with local and national organizations. Through our arts and wellbeing initiatives in Nottingham, we act as a key connector, guiding women to essential services offered by groups like Nottingham Women’s Centre, Women’s Aid, CAMHS, the Police, and Nottingham City Council. These partnerships allow us to expand our support network, ensuring women have access to the crucial resources they need to thrive.

MUSIC, DANCE, DRAMA AND CREATIVE ARTS

At When Women Gather, our goal is to support women in a holistic and nurturing way. We offer engaging, hands-on arts and wellbeing workshops that bring women together through music, dance, drama, and creative arts. These events create meaningful opportunities for women to connect, share experiences, and explore self-expression in a supportive, welcoming environment.

At the heart of our work is the desire to address the growing issues of loneliness and declining mental health. We believe that creativity and community can play a powerful role in overcoming these challenges.

Soon, we’ll be introducing bespoke education and training programmes designed to help women maintain their mental and emotional wellbeing. These sessions will focus on self-care, boosting self-esteem, starting new businesses, networking, and nurturing creativity through various artistic practices. We’re excited to offer these new opportunities to empower and uplift the women in our community!

OUR FUNDERS

It’s thanks to funding from key organisations that we’re able to provide these opportunities for women in Nottingham. In the past, we’ve also been awarded support grants to help develop our organisation, which has helped us to build resilience and presence.

Thanks to funders, such as Arts Council England, The National Lottery Community Foundation, Groundwork and Comic Relief, we have been able to build our organisation. We also thank local company AW Lymn for their support in our early days of setting up.

Since being established in 2019, by founding members Janet Rose and Jude Winwood, When Women Gather has grown into a popular and respected organisation in Nottingham. Our first community-led project, ‘Making Time’ (funded by The National Lottery Community Fund), helped us to kick-start our vision for gathering women together in Nottingham under the banner of connection, learning and wellbeing.

Our project launch events regularly welcome over 150 women into our creative space, where we enjoy inspiring talks and social time together. We’ve had the pleasure of inviting speakers from TEDx and local Radio Hosts, such as Rastarella from 97.5 Kemet FM.

OUR PROJECTS

We take great pride in consulting with our communities to uncover their needs, so we can plan and deliver arts and wellbeing projects that have a positive impact upon mental and emotional health and wellbeing in general. Below is a selection of our community projects. Thanks to our funders for supporting our communities' creativity and wellbeing.
