Janet Rose

Janet is a founding member of When Women Gather. Having spent many years of her career in community-based support roles, such as in mainstream education, welfare rights, youth leadership and social work, Janet has gained much knowledge and experience to transfer into her leadership and educational role within When Women Gather. Janet is also a Director of one of Nottingham’s most prestigious music production studios, Take 1 Studios, and alongside other musical family members has on several occasions welcomed HRH Prince Harry into the venue.

Janet is also a keen entrepreneur and supports other women in their own businesses, helping them to achieve beyond their potential and overcome any obstacles.

In her home city of Nottingham, Janet has formed excellent partnerships within many organisations, such as Nottingham University, Nottingham City Council, New College Nottingham and many other community-based organisations.

A lifelong passion for Janet has been the art of belly dance. For over thirty years, Janet has trained with world-class teachers in this art form and has really honed her own unique teaching style and craft. Through dance, Janet supports women with raising self-esteem and body confidence. Janet leads When Women Gather’s dance programs and enjoys collaborating with other teachers to provide high-quality arts and wellbeing workshops. Her flagship project, The Power of the Hip, supported by Arts Council England, is currently underway and is seeing Janet work alongside international artist, Nawarra.

Janet is a much-valued member of When Women Gather and forms part of our core committee, alongside Jude Winwood.
